Il Regalo means "the gift" in Italian. Life is a gift and every morning there is a new gift waiting for us to unwrap.

Sunrise Prayer
"I watch this morning for the light that the darkness has not overcome. I watch for the fire that was in the beginning and that burns still in the brilliance of the rising sun. I watch for the glow of life that gleams in the growing earth and glistens in sea and sky. I watch for your light, O God, in the eyes of every living creature and in the ever-living flame of my own soul. If the grace of seeing were mine this day I would glimpse you in all that lives. Grant me the grace of seeing this day. Grant me the grace of seeing." From Celtic Benediction by J. Philip Newell
The painting of me was done by my brother Ron when I was around three and he was in his early 20's (check out WalkingFortBragg.blogspot for his blog). I come from a very artistic, crafty family. My Mom was always working on something (crochet, knitting, and needlework and sewed me some beautiful clothes. My Dad ("Papa") was always making "something out of nothing" and carved beautiful images from a single piece of wood. Both of my brothers are basically mechanical engineers and artists. My brother Ron is a wonderful pen-and-ink artist and my brother Ken is a woodworker and drummer. I spend most of my waking hours at a corporate job. It's interesting, challenging, and I'm blessed to have it. However, I look forward to the day when I can explore more of my creative side. In the meantime, I squeeze in crafting, playing music and photography/design wherever and whenever I can.
